Charolais Championship success at Clogher Valley Show

The Northern Ireland Charolais Club had yet another successful Minsups Grand Final at Clogher Valley Show following a series of qualifying classes at shows across Northern Ireland.

The judge was leading Scottish breeder and British Charolais Society Chairman Andrew Hornall who did an excellent job judging the six Minsups championship classes as well as the NISA/Linden Foods Heifer qualifying class which followed.

Minsups, competition sponsors for the third time, were represented by Apryl Biddle, Managing Director.

Local representatives Carol Mooney, John Steen and Tommy McKenna also attended.

Champion Senior Bull: “Aghinure Les”, bred by Thomas Keelagher, Fivemiletown

This 15 month old was sired by Hillviewfarm Handsome.

Reserve Champion Senior Bull: “Derryharney Leebee”, bred by Mr H C Stubbs & Mr A A Burleigh, Lisnaskea. A 15 month old bull sired by Corrie Alan and out of homebred dam Derryharney Greeneyedgirl.

Champion Intermediate Bull: “Derryharney Lionheart”, bred by Mr H C Stubbs & Mr A A Burleigh, Lisnaskea. This 12 month old was sired by the popular bull Blelack Digger.

Reserve Champion Intermediate Bull: “Coolnaslee Luck”, bred by by GJ Crawford, Maghera. This 11 month old is sired by Goldstar Hugo2 ET.

Reserve Champion Junior Male: “Derryharney Major” bred by Mr H C Stubbs & Mr A A Burleigh, Lisnaskea. An eight month old bull calf bred which was sired by Allanfauld Vagabond.

Champion Senior Heifer: “Brigadoon Lolly” bred by WD & JA Connolly Ballynahinch. This 14 month old heifer is sired by homebred bull Brigadoon Himself and out of homebred dam Brigadoon Dolly.

Reserve Champion Senior Heifer: “Brigadoon Lady“bred by WD & JA Connelly Ballynahinch. This 16 month old heifer is also sired by Brigadoon Himself and from a homebred dam Brigadoon Elite.
