Drumderg Texels claim Bank of Ireland championship
Starting proceedings with the Shearling Ram Class, Mr Hanthorn made his selection for first in the line-up from Andrew Hutchinson’s Round Island pen. His exhibit, Rowandale Wanderer 11, a Knap Vital Spark son purchased from Darren McKay as a lamb last year later sold for £289.
Claiming Mr Hanthorn’s second place rosette was Messrs Annett, Milestonehill Texels with his homebred Shearling sired by Knock Ursus out of a Mellor Vale Masterpiece ewe, which later sold for £220.50. Standing next were Messrs A&J Young Kilrail House Texels with a Tullylagan Vantage son.

In the Ram Lamb Class Mr Hanthorn choose a Scholars Twenty Twelve son out of a Springhill dam for his first place rosette and overall Bank of Ireland Champion from Alistair Breen’s Drumderg pen. He later cashed in for £451.50.
Mr Hanthorn’s second place lamb and Bank of Ireland Reserve Champion went to Andrew Fyffe’s Fairywater pen. His Knock Trident son out of a dam sired by Ettrick My Jinks later went on to top the sale prices at £619.50.
Gary Rankin’s Garvetagh Hill exhibit claimed Mr Hanthorn’s third place rosette. A Holylee Volcano son out of a Mossvale Unique mother, he realised £315.
Overall sale trade was steady with 90% clearance.
