The Union is one of a number of sponsors who have maintained their relationships with the awards from inception to the present day.

And, as Farming Life editor Ruth Rodgers explains, it is that commitment which forms the backbone of the awards.

“We are very pleased that the Ulster Farmers’ Union is continuing its sponsorship of our Farming Champion category,” Mrs Rodgers said.

“We are very fortunate to have attracted dedicated sponsors who return year after year to give their support to key categories at our awards.

“The Farming Champion award goes to someone who champions the cause of Northern Ireland agriculture. It attracts many nominations and always gives our panel of judges much to consider before the winner is decided.”

The Ulster Farmers’ Union president Barclay Bell spoke of his delight that the Union is on board again for the sixth annual Farming Life and Danske Bank awards.

UFU President Barclay Bell said: “We believe every opportunity should be taken to celebrate the talent, entrepreneurship and excellence that exists in our industry, especially amongst our farmers, and the Farming Life Awards allows us to do just that.

“Over the years our industry has gained recognition as a sector with the potential to drive Northern Ireland’s economy forward.

“The agri-food sector is poised for further growth, however, going forward we need to see all supply chain partners, including farmers, benefiting from the development of the agri-food industry. It is important that our industry continues to have the opportunity for growth and gets the credit it deserves.

“The UFU is proud to sponsor the Farming Champion award. We have many talented, passionate and committed people in our farming community who have consistently promoted our industry in the good times and the bad. We believe that these people deserve to be recognised and we look forward to seeing the entries coming in.”
