Cull cows maintain their trade at Markethill

An entry of 100 cull cows at Markethill on Tuesday 24th May maintained their recent trade.

Beef bred cows to £165 for 710k at £1170. Main demand from £120 to £138 for 670k at £925. Fleshed Friesian cows from £105 to £114 for 704k at £805. Top priced Friesians £835 for 738k (113). Second quality friesians from £88 to £100 per 100 kilos and the poorest lots from £65 to £80 per 100 kilos.

CALVES: The 210 lots in the calf ring sold in a very firm trade. Bulls (under 6 weeks old) sold to £420 for a Char. Main demand from £220 to £305. Angus bred bulls to £300 each with several more from £200 to £270. Strong Friesian bulls from £120 to £190 each with young Friesian bulls from £40 to £70 each. Heifer calves to £345 for a Simm followed by £340 for a Lim. Main demand from £200 to £245 each.
