Agricultural insight for Derby College students
Seventeen students were hosted by tractor manufacturing company Zetor where they were able to test drive the latest machinery, tour the production facility and see the workings of a nearby 6,000 acre farm.
Derby College Agriculture lecturer Neil Townley explained: “We met Zetor at an agriculture show and were delighted when they invited us over to the Czech Republic.

“This was a great experience for all the first year students involved and showed them different farming methods as well as the equipment manufacturing aspect of the industry. The company had also just marked its 70th anniversary so it was great to be part of those celebrations.”
Among the students were Chelsea Chapman (19) from Derby who said: “It was fascinating to see the workings of such an extensive dairy and arable farm and to learn more about the design and manufacture of Zetor’s machinery.”
