Ballymena venue for Aberdeen Angus calf show and sale on November 14

The calf show will commence at 10.00am, followed by the sale at 2.00pm.

Online bidding will be facilitated by Marteye.

Club chairman Caolan McBrien has confirmed that more than 60 entries have been received for the calf show, while the post-show sale features an entry of 4 bulls and 13 females.

The bulls on offer range in age from November 2024 to September 2025, while the female portion of the catalogue features in-calf heifers, maiden heifers and calves born in 2026.

The annual calf show includes three classes for young handlers and 12 classes for yearling bulls and heifers, senior, intermediate, junior and baby 2026-born calves. Rounding off the judging is a class for a pair of calves owned by exhibitor.

There are also a number of trophies and championship awards up for grabs, including: yearling championship, heifer calf championship, bull calf championship, and supreme overall calf championship.

This year’s event will be judged by Scotsman Hamish Sclater from the noted Deveron Herd based at Denhead Farms, Dunlugas, Turriff, Aberdeenshire.

“This is a new-style event in a new location”, explained Caolan McBrien. “For the first-time ever, the annual calf show will be followed by a sale, which includes some fantastic pedigrees and sought-after genetics. A warm invitation is extended to pedigree and commercials herd owners, and Aberdeen Angus enthusiasts.”
