Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) are hosting their second abseil at the picturesque Belfast Castle on Sunday 9 October

Meningitis Research Foundation (MRF) is delighted to announce that they will be hosting their second abseil at the picturesque Belfast Castle on Sunday 9 October.

MRF is on the lookout for adventurous individuals that will make the 100ft descent all in the name of charity.

All the charity ask is that you are 16 years old or over to participate and no experience is required as full training will be given on the day so what are you waiting for.

Belfast Castle is set on the slopes of Cavehill Country Park in a prominent position 400 feet above sea level.

Once you are harnessed up and briefed you will make your descent down the side of the castle’s tower whilst taking in the breath taking views of the city and beyond.

On completion of the challenge then why not avail of the beautiful gardens and celebrate your achievement in the castle’s tea rooms for some well-deserved treats.

To secure your place you must pay a £30 registration fee and pledge to raise a minimum of £50 in sponsorship money.

Meningitis and septicaemia are very serious and affect around 3,400 people in the UK and Ireland each year.

They can be easily mistaken for milder illnesses such as flu but can kill within hours.

Sadly, 1 in 10 cases are fatal and one third of survivors are left with life-changing after-effects such as multiple amputations, blindness and brain damage.

The charity relies on the generosity and support of the local community to help continue its vital work across Northern Ireland.
