Calved heifers to 1880gns at Rathfriland Co-Op

49 head of dairy stock included 33 freshly calved Holstein heifers which sold in a terrific trade on Monday.

The Annalong pedigree herd topped the sale at 1880gns for a 26 month old freshly calves heifer.

Only three of the entry of 33 calved heifers sold at under 1000gns.

The Annalong herd sold other lots at 1800gns, 1780gns, 1680gns and averaged 1600gns for 10 lots.

McKnight Brothers reached 1620gns, 1600gns and 1450gns.

H and G Mitchell reach 1600gns with a further two lots at 1500gns each and an average of 1390gns for eight lots.

C Cantly sold non-pedigree calved heifers to £1350.

A Holstein heifer from Jim McPolin sold at £1200.

Two batched of maiden heifers cleared up to 850gns for S Robinson, Crossgar, with main trade for maidens from 400gns up.

1200 lambs sold to £87.50 on Tuesday evening with the top 10 lots selling from £84 to £87.50. A smaller entry of ewes cleared up to £78 with the top 10 lots from £70 to £78.
