Collone as a club was very well represented with Linzi Kennedy, James McConnell, James Scroggie, Daniel Sloane, Harry Chambers and Ashley Neill all succeeding in the application process.
The members visited a wide range of farms and agricultural businesses including Noble Machinery, Cattlelands Machinery and the Mappin Ranch. The group explored farm diversification and learnt about some of the regenerative practices used by local farmers. A key highlight of the trip for Collone was when member James Scroggie demonstrated his auctioneering skills placing Collone firmly on the map!
The group visited some key tourist locations such as Lake Louise, Lake Moraine and Banff. They soaked up some more local culture on Canada Day where the group attended the Ponoka Stampede and rounded off the itinerary by attending the Calgary Stampede on the final day with a Bailey Zimmerman Concert to end the trip on a high.
The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all members the range of farm visits and learning opportunities was vast along with some enjoyable tourist activities taking place too. Club leader James McConnell said that some of his favourite parts were the ‘trips to Lake Moraine and Lake Louise in addition to the Ponoka Stampede. The stampede was a brilliant experience and it was great to meet more Canadians throughout the day. The trip as a whole was class with a great group of people.’
It is brilliant that so many members of Collone grasped this travel opportunity provided by the YFCU fully - well done everyone!
