Easter changes at Castle Ward

After establishing itself as a firm family favourite at Easter, Castle Ward is making some changes to its traditional programme of Easter events.

The changes are in response to a particularly wet winter which has left parts of the estate much wetter than usual. This means some real challenges for staff and volunteers in managing car parking and ensuring that visitors have a great day out.

However the Castle Ward team has responded in creative style, ensuring a fun packed series of activities throughout the week – not just on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

Jacqueline Baird at Castle Ward said: “After a very wet winter, and with an early Easter this year parts of Castle Ward are awash with puddles and our car parking facilities are still sodden. So rather than cancel our two day Easter Fair we want you to join us throughout the week for a ‘Welly Big Adventure’ of Easter fun and activities.

“In past years we have seen most of our visitors arrive on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. However we are open every day that week and encourage people to try our fun activities throughout the holiday week. We are also encouraging people to bring their wellies for some fun.”

There is plenty to enjoy on various days including the adventure and woodland playgrounds, animals in the farmyard, ’50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ adventures with maps and scrapbooks, some local food and craft stalls, Mischief the topiary bunny, children’s craft activities… and of course the famous Cadbury Easter Bunny Hunts.

Castle Ward is open every day from 10am to 5pm. Car parking spaces are likely to fill up fast, especially on Easter Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. So please consider visiting on other Easter week days.

The National Trust advises you to check their website, Facebook and Twitter pages daily before you travel.
