Hudson Trailers NI Ltd confirms 2016 Calf Fair sponsorship
Hudson Trailers NI Ltd has confirmed its backing for the Beef Shorthorn and Salers classes at the forthcoming Pedigree Calf Fair @ Beef NI Expo.
The Armagh-based company has been manufacturing livestock trailers for more than 20 years, and considers its 2016 model as the most forward thinking Hudson trailer to date.
Gareth George explained: “The new model boasts several striking features, including flush mounted double LED tail lights for optimum visibility; heavy duty oval alloy loading gates with side retainers for safety when loading livestock; and unique chassis styling and arch sections to maximise the streamline looks of the trailer.”
All Hudson trailers are manufactured to the highest quality, and include seam welded alloy floors, side box section deck rails, 7-leaf spring suspension, knott 50mm beam axles and Bradley coupling.
“Standard spec is full spec,” added Gareth George. “There is no lower spec model available in the new trailer. Every trailer comes with a fold down front, livestock partitions, built-in slurry tank, spare wheel, heavy duty loading gates and LED lights as standard.”
A full range of sizes are available from 8’ x 5’ to 16’ x 6’, including the company’s popular 13’ x 6’ tri-axle model.
The company also manufactures a variety of larger tractor-drawn trailers, ranging from 16’ to 32’. These larger scale trailers are built to a high specification, and are made from fully galvanised steel.
Gareth George concluded: “We work closely with our customers, and pride ourselves on being able to offer them uniqueness when it comes to designing and building a trailer to suit individual needs. Various options are available, including external field gate brackets, extra interior lights, extra gate positions, bull rings, or indeed, a custom built farm logo sticker.”
Organised in conjunction with the Livestock and Meat Commission, the Pedigree Calf Fair @ Beef NI Expo will take place at the Balmoral Showgrounds in Belfast on Saturday 19th November.
The Shorthorn classes will be judged by Scott Marshall from Perthshire in Scotland, while the Salers entry will come under scrutiny from Laurent Antignac, who runs the Elite Herd based in Northamptonshire.
Judging gets underway at 10.00am, and there will be a large selection of trade stands in attendance

HERD PRESENTS SHORTHORN SILVERWARE
Shorthorn exhibitors at this year’s Pedigree Calf Fair @ Beef NI Expo will have an opportunity to compete for a new trophy.
The Croobview Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the junior championship at the one-day show on Saturday 19th November.
The new piece of silverware has been presented by Denise Bailie, and son Uel, who run the 22-cow Croobview herd based at Dromara, Co Down.
Speaking at the launch of the 2016 event Mrs Bailie said she enjoyed last year’s inaugural Calf Fair at Balmoral.
“It was a very enjoyable and well organised event, and a great spectacle for the ten beef breeds involved. We won the reserve junior Shorthorn championship with the April 2015 born Croobview Jellytot, and seven months later she went on to secure the reserve junior female championship at the Royal Highland Show.
“This calf fair gives pedigree breeders an opportunity to showcase their youngstock, and we hope that by presenting this trophy, it will encourage more Beef Shorthorn exhibitors to participate at the forthcoming show.
“It’s a privilege to support the event.
“Finally, thank you to the sponsors and everyone involved in organising the calf fair. I wish you every success for the forthcoming show.”
