The weekend got underway on Friday evening with the club’s ever-popular Speed Shear Competition, which attracted more than 30 shearers competing across three categories: Intermediate, Senior and Open. A large crowd turned out to support the event, creating a fantastic atmosphere from start to finish.
The club extended its sincere thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to making the evening such a success. Special appreciation was given to the judges for their time and expertise, the commentators for keeping spectators entertained, the sheep suppliers, and to Fionan Butler for organising the shearers, judges, sheep and equipment. Thanks were also expressed to every member of Kilraughts Young Farmers Club whose hard work behind the scenes ensured the event ran smoothly.
Competitors battled it out for a share of the impressive £1,500 prize fund, generously sponsored by Loughguile Credit Union and Kilraughts Young Farmers Club.

The celebrations continued on Saturday with Kilraughts Young Farmers’ annual BBQ, which once again proved to be a popular event. A dedicated team of club members volunteered throughout the day, and the club expressed its gratitude to everyone who gave up their time to help.

With another successful Big Weekend complete, Kilraughts Young Farmers has once again demonstrated the strength of its members, the enthusiasm of its volunteers and the fantastic support it receives from the wider community.
