Prior to and following a very successful 2016 spring Machinery Show in Fintona, McFarlands have been inundated with a lot of new enquiries leading to new sales for new Merlo Telehanhandlers. For many years Merlo was viewed by many farmers in a very under rated manner as a telehandler manufacturer, but now farmers and contractors alike are beginning to sit up and take note that their perceptions and ideas of these machines were wrong and now have come to appreciate the Hydrostatic drive concept and all that Merlo has to offer.

The general design, build quality and compactness of these machines have appealed to a lot of new customers that generally have previously only considered the likes of JCB or Manitou.

McFarlands have been Merlo dealers since 2004 under sub dealer status, but received main dealer status in early 2013.

Aaron from McFarland’s commented that “you generally know how good a machine is if you look at the warranty claim figures”, which for McFarland’s could still be counted on your two hands, not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

The most popular models that McFarland’s sell are the Compact machines P32.6, medium machine TF35.7-120 and the larger machines TF38.7-120 and TF42.7-156 all of which come with a two year warranty and 0% finance over three years.

Aaron told Farming Life: “As with everything, the machine you buy is often only as good as the dealer you buy it from, that to me is a vital part in the entire transaction. If after sales service is no good, then the dealer has a problem on his hands. A lot of farmers buy the man, the machine just comes with it.”
