UFU supports SRG at dairy conference

The recent Dairy Conference at CAFRE’s Greenmount Campus proved to be highly successful for the Sustainable Ruminant Genetics team which is responsible for delivering the Bovine Genetics Project (BGP) to farmers across Northern Ireland.

With the event’s central theme focused on driving profitability and delivering sustainability, SRG’s Hannah Martin presented on the background to the BGP and the many benefits it will deliver to those signed up to the user portal.

“The power of data and technology is reshaping all industries, and this applies as much to agriculture as any other sector. The groundbreaking BGP project will ensure NI farmers are at the leading edge when it comes to breeding, profitable cattle management and farm productivity.

“We were very encouraged by the level of interest and positive response we received from those attending the Dairy Conference including welcome support from UFU Deputy President, Glenn Cuddy and other key organisations such as Dale Farm, Lakeland Dairies, the Dairy Council and AHDB.

“Collaboration with such partners is vitally important if we are to ensure all dairy and beef farmers are aware of the programme and the many benefits it will deliver.”
