Ulster Wool has opened bookings for its 2026 shearing courses, now live on the Ulster Wool website.
Delivered by a highly experienced team of instructors, the programme will see courses running between April and August, providing training in machine shearing, blade shearing and wool handling.

Ulster Wool shearing courses are designed to develop best practice and strong shearing techniques from the outset. Training covers all key aspects of shearing, including health and safety, the shearing environment, equipment selection and maintenance, shearing technique, and wool care.
The courses are internationally recognised and tailored to suit all levels of experience, from complete beginners undertaking Blue Seal training through to advanced shearers working towards Gold Seal accreditation. Course content is structured to meet a range of objectives, whether improving efficiency when shearing your own flock, building foundations for a career in shearing, or supporting progression to high-level and international competition standards.
Ulster Wool offers machine shearing and wool handling courses suitable for all trainee levels.
Continuing its commitment to skills development, Ulster Wool has once again launched its exclusive training offer for young farmers. The offer is available to all young farmer members, regardless of experience level or the number of courses previously attended. Eligible young farmers can receive 50% off Ulster Wool shearing and wool handling courses for the duration of their membership, including both machine and blade shearing courses.
Rachel Murphy, Ulster wool ambassador and wool handling instructor says: “I have been a wool handling instructor for 4 years now. Wool handling is really enjoyable and interesting to learn. There are so many different types of wool out there; it's interesting to know what to do with it and how to present a fleece. If you’re willing to learn, you will go far in the wool handling industry all over the world.”
