Brainchild of the event, 43-year-old Thomas Breadon, was inspired to create a ‘bigger tractor run than normal’ to raise money as some of his close friends are currently battling cancer.

Starting from Jubilee Road, Newtownards on 19th August, a ‘convoy of pre-1990 tractors will set off on an unforgettable route celebrating vintage machinery, community spirit, and fundraising for a vital cause’.

According to a promotional post on Facebook the run for Cancer Focus NI will travel from Newtownards to Armagh for the first overnight stop.

‘It will then continue from Armagh on to Enniskillen, with the second overnight stop in Irvinestown,’ it adds.

‘From there, the convoy will head north to Limavady before making the final journey back to Newtownards on 22nd August.

‘Featuring classic tractors from before 1990, the event brings together enthusiasts from across the country to showcase heritage farming vehicles while raising awareness and support for cancer services across Northern Ireland.

‘Spectators are encouraged to come out along the route, support the drivers, and be part of an incredible community event spanning all six counties’.

Thomas, himself a tractor-run fan said: ‘I wanted to do something different to help fight cancer. It affects everyone because we have all lost someone because of the disease.

‘So I got in touch with Cancer Focus and told them about the tractor run I was hoping to do.

He added that ‘only around 10 tractors will be doing the full run, but we would really like different tractors to join us along the route’.

‘We are also hoping to meet people along the route and find out who they are.

‘We are also hoping for sponsorship and donations in the towns we drive through, from businesses who are interested in what we are doing’.
