Countdown Begins for 106th Clogher Valley Show
The countdown is officially on for the Clogher Valley Show, with less than six weeks to go, preparations are well underway.
The Clogher Valley Show held their launch event on June 10, in The Valley Hotel, welcoming sponsors, volunteers, stewards, exhibitors and supporters to celebrate this special event. The Clogher Valley Show is returning for their 106th year running on July 29, continuing its long-standing tradition as one of the area’s most popular agricultural events.
Throughout the launch event, many of the highlights of the well-loved show were showcased, giving attendees a preview of what to expect on the day. The event will feature a packed programme of attractions, including 21 championships and 20 Irish Shows Association qualifiers, showcasing top-class livestock from across the region, with exhibitors from all over Ireland proudly presenting their livestock in the judging rings. The Show will once again be supported by Mid Ulster Council this year.
Visitors can also look forward to a wide range of equestrian competitions, a busy food hall, craft displays, and an impressive collection of vintage vehicles. Alongside this, there will be numerous trade stands and family entertainment, offering something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day.

Additionally, the Clogher Valley Vintage section is in its 20th year with entries increasing every year. This year's Vintage section will be held in support of this year's nominated charity, Children’s Heartbeat Trust. The charities selected each year are chosen because of their strong connection to either the members of the Clogher Valley Show or the wider community. This year’s charity was chosen due to its close association with a member of the community, whom the charity had supported significantly during a particularly challenging period in their life. Instead of charging an entry fee, the Vintage Section encourages visitors to make a donation to its nominated charity. This approach has proved highly successful in previous years, raising around £2,000.
As a tribute to the Clogher Valley Show’s late President, known as “The Captain,” the Clogher Valley Agricultural Society has awarded a bursary to a CAFRE student who has just completed their first year at college. This year’s recipient is local student Mr Andrew Browne. Coming from a farming family, Andrew is already well acquainted with the Show, assisting as a steward in the Aberdeen Angus cattle section, showing Hereford calves, and helping to erect and dismantle the cattle pens.
Andrew is currently studying a degree in Agriculture and Technology at Greenmount College, where he is developing a strong academic foundation to complement the practical experience gained through life and work on his home farm.
The bursary presentation will take place at the post-Show Committee meeting in September.
