Anya ‘Stars’ at Baileys Horse Feeds Flexi Eventing

Despite the wind and rain, there were periods of sunshine and many of the diehards put it down to very good preparation for Tyrella.
Anya Teutan who has been impressing the Judges each week so far, continued that trend and stole the show in the Intro ’A’ class with a score of 73% awarded by Stephen Murphy. Anya partnered the ten year old Connemara mare, Lisrua Star, which her mother, Victoria, bought as a six year old from Oliver Walsh at Flowerhill in Galway. Anya began riding her in late 2017, competing in Working Hunter and Showing classes but, judging by current Flexi Eventing performance, the combination look as if they should be thinking about adding Eventing to their CV. Part of the thrill of winning this week was that Anya out-performed her mother who had to settle for third place. Katie Crozier claimed the runner up spot with Colorado, a horse she has owned for the past five years. They have competed successfully in Showing, winning the Northern Ireland Festival Supreme Pony Title, Reserve Hunter Champion at Balmoral Show and also Reserve Champion Small Hunter at Dublin Horse Show. Katie plans to compete at Working Hunter as well as Three Phase Events during 2020.

With a score of 73.3%, this was the combination’s third Flexi Eventing win as well as securing two other top six placings. Slipping in behind was Nikki Cullen with her eleven year old mare, Danske Coevers Lass. The points gained this week have given the combination an increased advantage on the leader board after the sixth leg.

Vanda Stewart was the Judge for a twenty strong Pre Novice class where the very consistent duo of Nicola Martin shone brightly with a resultant award of 69.8 % on Butter, her seven year old mare by Gold N Silver. This combination claimed six top six placings, including two wins, under Eventing Ireland rules last year and this latest win has propelled them into second place in the League. The runner up place was shared three fold. One of those was Lauren Carville, a sixteen year old member of East Antrim Pony Club who competed with Rosie (Castlelodge Osmium Rose) an eight year old mare by Osmium and her first horse since making the transition from ponies. Also taking a shared second spot and no stranger to claiming rosettes was Newry girl, Grace Kehoe, riding her father’s eight year old grey mare by Oberon Van Fyandra D’09. Helen Cunningham and Lady were the third combination to take second place with a score of 68%.
The Novice class this week was won by Robbie Collins on his six year old Lester Lad gelding, Dunrath Navigator who finished marginally ahead of Caoimhe Crozier and Banjo, a nine year old Connemara gelding which had nine Eventing Ireland runs last year including a win at Tullymurry 2.
There was plenty of action in the showjumping and cross country arenas where, once again, four faults seemed to be the order of the day.
