Bleary Young Farmers’ Club celebrate recent successes
The cub are proud to be celebrating their 90th year in 2020 which makes the club one of the longest running.
Bleary YFC aimed to celebrate their anniversary with nine events to raise vital funds for both the club and different charities, however, due to ongoing concerns surrounding Covid-19, the club has had to postpone these.

The club aim to hold these events in the 2020/21 club year and will require sponsors for the events. To sponsor the club please contact the club’s Facebook or Instagram page.
Throughout the year members attended various competitions, putting their skills to the test either verbally or practically.
Public speaking heats resulted in success when Marianna took first place in both categories.
In the prepared category both Zoe and Stephen secured second place in their age groups. These members progressed to the Northern Ireland finals where Marianna was placed first overall in her age category.

Members were successful in the floral art competition as Sarah and Zoe were placed in their age categories coming first and second respectively.
In November, members attended the annual county dinner. The night started with a three course meal followed by awards to recognise achievements.
Zoe Maguire won four cups for success at competitions while Emma Malcomson won a cup for best club leader in Armagh.
A huge part of the programme is to welcome other clubs to encourage new friendships.

Bleary YFC had the pleasure of hosting Artana YFC for an evening full of entertainment as well as jiving and line dancing.
The club also travelled to Hillsborough YFC for an exchange where they were educated on wildlife by guest speaker Andrew Gracey.
Bleary YFC recently achieved their Bronze Eco Club award with Grassroots Challenge.
Farms can be very dangerous places if the correct safety measures aren’t in place to help avoid accidents.

The majority of the members live on/are involved in farm work, especially during isolation, which is why safety talks on club nights play a key role in providing this much needed service.
Bleary YFC welcomed guest speaker, William Sayers to tell his inspirational story of how he lost his arm in a tragic farm accident.
These stories put into perspective what measures can be put in place to save a life or limb.
In February 2020, Bleary YFC teamed up with Mountnorris YFC to take to the stage at the arts festival competition.

This opportunity challenged members as it was something the club has never done before. They thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
The club were awarded best newcomers which would have been presented at the gala on March 28. This is an outstanding achievement for the club.
Bleary YFC won the best club in Co Armagh following recent assessment. Club secretary, Sarah, Treasurer, Abby and PRO Zoe were all recognised for their hard work and dedication as they were awarded first place in their roles.
During isolation, the members have been busy spreading positivity by participating in the YFCU Follow the Rainbow online competition and posting what they have been up to.
