Border Leicester Virtual Show results

Judge, Duncan Whyte, “Mearns” Scotland went on to say: “It was a privilege to be asked to judge the Northern Ireland Virtual Show. I was impressed by the standard of entries and delighted so many members took the time to photograph their sheep, though disappointing for everyone that there were no shows this summer.

“I placed the Aged Ewe as the Female Champion. In my mind she was a lovely headed ewe with a good length of neck and outstanding carcass and stood well on her legs and this is why I have placed her Overall Champion.”

The Female Champion, Aged Ewe was exhibited by James Aiken “Carnew” Dromore BL39 P8 Sire: Knockglass Sunrise, purchased at the dispersal sale of the flock of the late Jackie Harrison, Lammermuir. She is also the mother of the Gimmer and Ewe Lamb class winners.

“I placed the Ram Lamb as Male Champion, I thought the lamb had a nice head with bright eyes and looked as if it had a nice coat,” the judge said.

The Male Champion Ram Lamb was from Joe Adams & Sons “Holmview” Ballymena BL63S S1 Sire: Slatehill Sparky Dam: BL63S Q10. Slatehill Sparky was bought last year at the Ballymena Sale from Stephen Wallace “Slatehill” Ballyclare and has bred very well for the Adams family with their pen of ram lambs that are entered for the Border Leicester Sale on 28th September off him.

The Annual Sale will be held in Ballymena Market on Monday, 28th September and although there will be no show this year due to Covid-19 the club would like to thank the sponsors over the years, Fane Valley Stores, Natural Stock Care @ Alan Carson, Danske Bank and J Thompson & Son.
