Dairy stock sells to a top of £1960 at Markethill

Dairy stock sold to a top of £1960 at Markethill on Tuesday 27th October paid for a calved heifer from a Kilkeel farmer.

The same owner received £1760 and £1720 for calved heifers.

CULL COWS

170 cull cows. Cow/heifers to £200 for 620k at £1245. Good quality beef bred cows sold from £140 to £184 per 100 kilos for 730k Lim at £1355 from a Portadown producer and for 660k Lim at £1215 from a Loughgilly farmer. Fleshed Friesian cows sold to £138 per 100 kilos for 820k at £1135 from a Loughgilly farmer and for 708k at £975 from a Glenanne farmer. All good quality fleshed Friesian cows from £115 to £127 per 100 kilos for 828k at £1055 from a Richhill farmer. Second quality Friesian cows from £95 to £110 and the poorest types from £70 to £80 per 100 kilos.

A large entry of 190 calves sold in the best trade for some time. Good quality bull calves under 6 weeks sold to a top of £450 for an AA and for a Hereford followed by £445 and £430 for an AA. All good quality bulls from £300 to £420. Good quality heifer calves sold to £445 for a BB followed by £420 for an AA and £400 for a Lim. Main demand for good quality heifers from £250 to £370 each.
