First aid skills can be applied in the home, on the farm or in public locations; it allows those trained with the potentially life-saving ability to assist an injured or ill person during a variety of emergency situations.

With first aid training, you will learn various skills as basic life support (CPR), helping an injured person who’s unconscious, dealing with bleeding and shock, as well as burns, poisoning and choking. All of these skills can potentially help save someone’s life.

Employers have a legal duty to make arrangements to ensure their employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work. As a minimum, employers must have an appointed person to take charge of first-aid arrangements and have a suitably stocked first-aid kit.
