Two young dogs currently in the charity’s care, waiting to find their forever families, are Sonny and Little Gem.
Beautiful Sonny is a one-year-old Labrador cross who is full of life and has plenty of love to give his forever family. Sonny is a very excitable, strong boy and will need continued training in his new home to help him manage his excitement. He is strong on the lead, so he requires adopters who understand his size and strength. Sonny loves the car, so he would relish a life where he can enjoy lots of walking adventures.
Sonny could live with other dogs after successful meets at Dogs Trust Ballymena. He can also live in a home with older children of secondary-school age, who are confident around big, bouncy dogs. As a young lad, he requires ongoing training and will need plenty of enrichment and exercise, so a home with active adopters would be great for Sonny. He would like company when he joins his forever family, with alone time being built up gradually.
Two-year-old Whippet Little Gem lives up to her name with her gem of a personality. Little Gem was an amazing mum to her three puppies and is now searching for her happy ending. Little Gem is looking for an adult-only home with active adopters. She would love her own secure garden space where she can run and play to her heart's content. This would also give her a fantastic opportunity to enjoy some of her favourite enrichment activities, keeping her clever brain busy.
Speaking about Little Gem, Sarah Park, Manager at Dogs Trust Ballymena, said: “Unsurprisingly, given how she came into our care after being abandoned, Little Gem can be shy when meeting new people, but once she gets to know her new family, she will be their closest companion. She is an affectionate girl who loves fuss and snuggles, so we want to find her a home where she is the only dog and where she can enjoy all the attention to herself. She is a big foodie and is super intelligent, which means further training together will be fun. We feel it will be a lucky family who gets to share their life with Little Gem, as she is special in every way.”
If you are interested in adopting Sonny and Little Gem, please get in touch with the team at Dogs Trust Ballymena or pop along to meet them.
