Members of the farming community from across Co. Antrim and throughout Northern Ireland were welcomed by Rev Mark Rodgers (Minister of Clough Presbyterian) to the recent Service of Thanksgiving for the Farming Community.
It was wonderful to see so many gathered together, including William Irvine, President of the Ulster Farmers’ Union; Alison Killough and Rosemary McAllister from the Federation of Women’s Institutes; Adrianna Coulter and Joel Dornan representing YFCU; Tom Saunderson, Farmers’ Mission; Doreen Bolton from Farm Families Health Checks Programmes; Dr Rebecca Orr, NI Agri-Health Forum; Valerie Guthrie, representing the Alzheimer’s Society; and Victor Chestnutt and Gerry Doran from Rural Support.
The large congregation was greatly encouraged and uplifted through a meaningful time of worship, prayerful support, and inspiring messages from David Brown (former President of the UFU) and Kenny Hanna (Rural Chaplain).
The church choir also blessed everyone present with two beautiful anthems, reminding the congregation that in life’s most difficult seasons, our Heavenly Father ‘holds us fast.’
An offering raised £1,607 for the worthy charity - Alzheimer’s Society.
The ladies provided a delicious supper which was enjoyed by everyone and allowed time for continued fellowship.
The members of Clough Presbyterian Church wish to thank everyone who joined them and helped to make this a special and encouraging evening for the farming community.
