Fat cows to £1200 at Rathfriland Co-Op

Fat cows returned the highest prices this spring.

Two Ballynahinch farmers sold cows to £1200 twice and £1065.

Several other cows sold at over £1000.

Good continental bullocks excelled in price.

A top of £1145 was paid for a 520k lot from Ballyward.

Holstein bullocks sold to £1115 for 580k from Cascum.

A Dromore farmer topped the heifer section at £1100 for a 568k Saler.

Over 70 dropped calves cleared up to £490 for Aberdeen Angus bulls and £480 on three occasions for a Co Armagh farmer.

Lamb prices eased on Tuesday evening but still returned a satisfactory trade.

Over 200 fat ewes sold to £115 per head and ewes with lambs at foot to £195.
