Fat cows to £1350 at Rathfriland Co-Op
Another excellent trade for cattle on Friday at Rathfriland Co-Op saw fat cows to £1350 from Ballyroney.
The dropped calf section contained calves up to 6 months old. These sold to £530 for a Her bull from Ballynahinch. Blue heifers sold to £500 from Legananny. Weanling calves sold to 240p/k for a 278k Lim male at £690 from Castlewellan. A Cullyhnna farmer sold a 298k Lim female at £715. A larger entry of heifers sold to £1310 for a 620k Lim from Closkelt. Most heifers sold from £1000 to £1310. Some excellent bullocks with a top of £1260 for a 650k Lim from Ballyroney. Holstein bullocks to £1075 and £1040.

Tuesday evening saw fat ewes trade probably the best this year to a top of £143.00. Lamb trade eased slightly on the week. A Banbridge farmer topped the sale at £103.50 for 23kg. Over 150 fat ewes and rams sold to £143 for Texels from a Newry Farmer. And Rams to £128.00 more ewes over the £100 mark this week with plainer ewes from £70 to £85 each.
