Horse Week: Georgia and Freddie reach new heights at Hagans Croft Equestrian

SATURDAY 30th May saw the third week of Hagans Croft’s Showjumping League get underway, starting with the cross-poles class with a total of six entries and all six competitors achieving a clear round – it just shows that these ponies and riders are the stars of the future and very well deserved of their rosette and ice cream from Hagans Croft’s container cafe.

The course was then adjusted to parallels and set to a height of 40cm. The competition really started to get underway as fences nine to 12 were against the clock.

With a total of five entries only one competitor managed to complete the course clear and that was Ada McClelland and Maverick. Well done.

It was the same scenario within the 50cm class where out of seven entries only one clear was to be achieved and that was from Pearl Halliday on Poppy – Pearl delighted to be picking up the first place rosette.

Onto the 60cm class where things became even more challenging. Lots of fillers, planks and oxers where added across the course and as competitors walked the course they looked to see where they could shave off a few seconds in the speed section of the course.

Lily Henderson and Tubster certainly done their homework as the pair executed those turns perfectly, crossing the finish line in 21.84 seconds and first place.

Congratulations Vivienne Andrews and Sarah’s Pebbles who claimed the top spot in the 60cm senior class for the second week in a row.

As the course was raised to 70cm, a total of 11 competitors took on the testing course. With only three clears achieved it was down to who completed fences nine to 12 in the fastest time and that was Poppy Millar and Toberpatrick Flash in 23.63 seconds.

Katie Stewart and Clarmore Royal Reflection took second place with 25.97 seconds.

The 80cm class seen talent aplenty and clear rounds aplenty also, eight clear rounds to be exact.

Out on top with 15.78 seconds on the clock and the fastest time throughout the whole day was Annie Lucas and Flossy. Second with 17.94 seconds on the clock was Anna Reid and Lily. What superb jumping everyone had the pleasure of watching in this strong class of talented horses and riders.

With only one clear to be achieved in the 90cm class, Emma Brown and Elly Bouncer had first place in the bag! Great to see this pair out once again and having fun in the sun!

It was Georgia Storey’s first time jumping a 1m course on her horse Freddie. They thought if they got a nice picture over one fence they would be happy, but they exceeded all their expectations and soared across the course, just one unfortunate pole to hit the ground but that did not matter as they took home the first place rosette and a very positive experience for their first attempt at this higher height. Well done.
