Land Mobility Service strengthens presence in Munster region with appointment of Emma Behan
The Land Mobility Service (LMS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Behan as Land Mobility Service Facilitator for the Munster region.
Emma’s appointment represents a further strengthening of the practical supports available to farmers as they plan for the future of their farm businesses, particularly in the areas of succession, land mobility and generational renewal.
Dairygold, which last year launched its succession support programme, Pathways, joined with the Land Mobility Service to highlight the level of support available to farm families and the new appointment for the Munster region.
Dairygold’s chairperson Pat Clancy, chief executive Michael Harte and milk supply and pathways farm succession manager Paul O’Connell joined with LMS programme manager Patrick Brady, LMS facilitator Austin Finn and Emma Behan on the dairy farm of John and Marie Lane from Carrigoon in Mallow, who are on a long-term lease with James and Niamh Moloney.

Speaking on the appointment, Emma Behan said: “I believe it is important that we continue to support and guide everyone involved in farming.
“Through the Land Mobility Service, there is real potential to secure the future of farming by matching people with the right opportunities and encouraging collaboration.”
Dairygold chairperson Pat Clancy said: “Dairygold is fully committed to supporting members through key life and business transitions. Working collaboratively with the Land Mobility Service strengthens the range of supports available, helping to ensure that farm succession and land mobility options are accessible, practical and tailored to individual farm families.”
This appointment comes at a critical time for Irish agriculture, as more farm families begin important conversations around succession and long-term planning. Across Ireland, the average age of farm holders is now 59, underlining the importance of accessible, trusted advisory supports.
As part of this collaboration, Emma will work closely with Paul O’Connell, Dairygold milk supply and farm succession manager, to support Dairygold members engaging in succession planning through the Co-Op’s Pathways Programme. Paul O’Connell, milk supply and farm succession manager with Dairygold, added: “Succession is one of the most significant and sensitive decisions a farming family will make. Having the right supports in place is essential.
“Emma’s appointment is a very positive development for farmers in Munster, and we look forward to working closely together to help farmers explore practical, structured options that suit their individual circumstances.”
Emma brings significant agricultural experience to the role, having grown up on her family’s dairy farm in Co Kildare and developed her career across the dairy and livestock sector, including with Progressive Genetics. She now farms in Co Cork, where she runs her own herd.
In her role as LMS facilitator, Emma will work closely with farmers to support structured, practical and family-centred discussions around succession and collaborative farming arrangements.
The Land Mobility Service supports the matching of landowners with farmers seeking land, encouraging arrangements such as leasing, partnerships, and share farming.
Emma can be reached on 086 1031529 or [email protected].
