NI breeders prominent at Dutch Spotted UK female sale in Carlisle

The recent female sale in H&H, Carlisle saw the best trade ever for the Dutch Spotted sheep which is rapidly growing in popularity.

Topping the sale was the ewe lamb Ty Gwyn Delight from Brian Davies, Pembrokeshire selling to Russell Millen from Coleraine to join his recently established Knockmult Dutch Spotted Flock at 4800 gns.

Also at this price was another ewe lamb recently imported by Stuart Wood and selling to Messrs Dykes, Derbyshire.

Next highest price was a full sister of the top priced lamb Ty Gwyn Diane at 4600 gns also came to a recently established flock in Northern Ireland belonging to Gareth McCabe, Castlewellan.

Well known Dumfries breeder Ali Jackson’s in lamb ewe lamb Tip top Dream Catcher followed at 4200 gns and then his in lamb hogget at 4000 gns.

Two further females were knocked down at 4000gns, firstly from Graeme Jackson’s Mount Pleasant flock, Lancaster, in the form of an imported April-born ewe lamb. Bred in Holland and backed by Dutch genetics, she was knocked down to Messrs Morton, Kirkland, Penrith, Cumbria.

Thomas and Louise Nash, Wiston, Pembrokeshire, sold their ewe lamb, Merryboro Delight, for the second 4000gns price to Messrs Robertson, Yate, Bristol.

Northern Ireland breeders E & S Adamson, Carrickfergus sold their in-lamb hogget Kilroot Cinnamon for 3500 gns as did Drew Guthrie, Selkirk who sold two at 3500 and 3400 gns.

Northern Ireland breeders Liam Campbell and E & S Adamson had joint top price in the aged ewe class both carrying twins at 2800 gns. Several ewe lambs from Northern Irish breeders sold between 2000 and 2500 gns.
