Revving up for first virtual Skip Car Tour

Eight years ago, a small group of family and friends in county Armagh gathered together wanting to do something special for two charities that held a strong place in their hearts - Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Southern Area Hospice Services.

A campaign was created, known as The Skip Car Tour.

Over time, with a lot of hard work from the Skip Car Team, eight years of solid backing from the main sponsor McGeown Commercials, great help from long time tractor run sponsor S G Curry Ltd and immense support from the local communities, the campaign has managed to raise £420,000 for the two charities.

This was achieved through hosting seven annual fundraising charity weekends, consisting of The Orchard Truck Run, Tractor Run, Country Music and many more fun filled activities for all age groups.

With the current unprecedented times, unfortunately this year’s charity weekend cannot take place in its usual location, Basil Sheils, in county Armagh.

However, Marie Curie and The Southern Area Hospice need the public’s help more than ever, as the implications of the lockdown have resulted in a huge financial hit for both charities, which is why The Skip Car Team has decided to ‘think outside the box’ and try to raise funds a little differently this year.

This year the team will host the first ever Virtual Truck & Tractor Run.

This will be something everyone can participate in, not just truck and tractor owners based in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The Skip Car Team is calling out for people of all ages from all over the world to contribute to this unique fundraiser.

All they’re asking is for people to send in video clips of their lorries, trucks and tractors to [email protected], and they’re also encouraging families to get involved by sending in videos of their youngsters on their toy trucks and tractors for the Virtual Kids Truck & Tractor Run.

It would be much appreciated if all those who want to contribute could also make a small donation through The Skip Car Tour Go Fund Me page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/skip-car-tour-2020.
