Show jumping squad named for Portuguese Nations Cup

Irish Show Jumping team manager Michael Blake has named his squad for the three-star FEI Nations Cup which takes place at Vilamoura in Portugal which began yesterday (Tuesday, November 17th).

A large group of Irish and international riders have been based at the Portuguese venue for the past number of weeks, with up to six outdoor arenas in operation.

Weather conditions in Vilamoura remain extremely pleasant even into mid November with temperatures for the week ahead expected to reach up to 23 degrees celsius.

Up to 13 teams will line out in the Vilamoura Nations Cup, with the Irish squad, sponsored by Devenish and The Underwriting Exchange, named as follows:

Tipperary’s Shane Breen with Z7 Ipswich – owned by Z7 Horses and Shane Breen

Galway’s Michael Duffy with Zilton SL Z – owned by HMF Equestrian and Michael Duffy

Sligo’s Richard Howley with Arlo De Blondel – owned by Sarah Borthwick, HK Horses and Richard Howley

Kildare’s Mikey Pender with HHS Burnchurch (ISH) – owned by Miguel Maria Bravo

Derry’s David Simpson with Foudre F – owned by Breen Equestrian and Quirke Sport Horses
