Successful and a memorable year had by Kells and Connor YFC

The year 2025 for Kells and Connor YFC was both a successful and a memorable year, with members taking part in fundraising, competitions and activities.

One of the club’s biggest achievements of the year was the Tour de Kells cycle in aid of the incredible charity Angel Wishes.

This took place on the 20 and 21 of September when Alex Millar, Andrew Millar, Zoe McIlroy, James Fullerton and Adam Lyttle cycled from Kells, Co Antrim all the way to Kells, Co Meath and back again in just two days, covering a distance of 206 miles.

Additional members also supported the cause by taking part in a static cycle at Kells SuperValu to raise more funds for the amazing charity.

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of everyone involved, the club raised a whopping £3,500, which will go to support children with cancer-related conditions across Northern Ireland.

The cheque was presented at the club's annual Christmas party.

The club would like to thank everyone who was able to donate, it is greatly appreciated.

The club’s first meeting back after summer was the games night, welcoming 14 new members and saw returning members getting back into the swing of things.

Shortly after, members were given a visit from North West Mountain Rescue, who gave a hands-on demonstration of essential rescue techniques that got everyone involved and engaged.

Members had a go at using a stretcher, applied slings and were shown a variety of lifesaving equipment.

Towards the end of October, members raced to the finish in go-karting for an exciting trip out.

Throughout 2025, members competed in a range of competitions, including public speaking, floral art, stock judging, group debating and more.

The club was delighted with the success of Ellen Fullerton and Charlotte McAllister who both placed in their age categories in the Co Antrim floral art heats in October.

The club also enjoyed an exchange with Randalstown YFC, when the first meeting took place in Randalstown in November.

The night featured a “clubbercise” session and was followed by a helping of hot dogs and refreshments.

This wasn’t the only exercise members took part in, as on the girls’ split night, they got a workout instructed by Zoe McIlroy while the boys went out bowling.

In December, members had a pizza and quiz night. Thanks to member Tiffany Gibson for preparing the quiz, the winner will be announced at the upcoming parents’ night.

The final meeting before Christmas allowed members to unwind at a movie night, ending off the year relaxed.

To celebrate the year’s achievements, members attended the Christmas club dinner at The Ramble Inn on 28 November.

Dressed up for the occasion, everyone had a blast at a night of good food, great company and music with DJ Peter Thompson keeping the craic mighty on the dance floor.

The club would like to give sincere thanks to all members, parents, and supporters who gave up their time and generosity throughout the year.

With another very busy year ahead, members of Kells and Connor YFC are looking forward to making even more memories and successes in this new year.
