Swatragh Mart: Springing heifers selling to £2,650

Weekly cattle sale: Another great show of over 160 cattle was presented at Swatragh Livestock Mart on Monday 12th April which resulted in another outstanding trade for all types of stock on offer.

Bullocks sold to a top price of £1,320 for a 518kg Limousin at £2.55 per kg and to a top of £2.94 per kilo for a Limousin 360kg at £1,060.

Heifers sold to a top price of £1,360 for a 516kg Char at £2.64 per kg and to a top of £2.82 per kilo for a Charolais 280kg at £790.

Cattle breeding sale

A great show of over 60 cattle were presented at Swatragh Livestock Mart on Friday night last, which resulted in an outstanding trade for all types of stock on offer.

Sample prices

Springing heifers sold to an exceptional £2,650 for a fantastic Limousin.

Other springing heifer prices were: Limousin at £2,600; Limousin at £2,500; Belgian Blue at £2,400 and Limousin at £2,150.

Maiden heifers and cows and calves sold very well on the night with strong demand.

Weekly breeding sheep sale

1 ewe with 2 lambs at foot to £252. 1 ewe with 1 lamb at foot to £216.

Thursday evening’s sale produced a fantastic trade for almost 600 sheep that were presented at the weekly breeding sheep sale.

Spring lambs to £139, hoggets to £156, fat ewes to £206.

An excellent show again of over 800 sheep were presented at Swatragh Livestock Mart on Saturday 10th April, 350 cull ewes were offered for sale and were an excellent trade topping at £206.00.

Over 400 lambs were presented for sale, which was also met with a super trade, lambs topped at £160.00 for heavy sorts.

Spring lambs were a fantastic trade with a batch of 10 at 20.2kg selling at £139.00 (£6.88 ppk)
