Well, here’s your chance to find out as Rotary Ireland are staging their Virtual Conference 2021 this Saturday, March 6 - and it will be open to the public and free of charge.

Rotary is one of the world’s leading membership and humanitarian service organisations, with 1.2 million members globally.

Members of Rotary volunteer their time to make a difference in their local communities and around the world through projects which support education, fight disease, provide clean water and much more. Rotary Ireland is an all island body with 72 clubs and 1,700 members.

Speakers at the conference will include Darina Allen from Ballymaloe Cookery speaking from the comfort of her own kitchen on the legacy of Myrtle Allen;

Dr Ian Norton, specialist emergency physician and former head of the WHO’s Emergency Medical Team on what the next couple of years with Covid will bring and

academic and author Sara Jane Cromwell on transgender diversity and inclusion.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dr Norton from Cork described vaccination as a privilege and urged people to get vaccinated.

“If you have a privilege of having access to a vaccine please take it. There are so many other countries which don’t have that privilege and when I see people not wanting to take it at home, I ask myself, do they really realise there are so many vulnerable populations in other parts of the world that have not got that privilege.”

Dr Norton, founder of Respond Global, is based in Queensland, Australia and has previously led responses to Ebola, Diptheria and measles outbreaks in various different countries.

The virtual event will be streamed live from Youghal this Saturday, March 6. ‘Doors’ open at 9am for ‘Showcase’, conference 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3.10pm

The event will be hosted by the District Governor of Rotary Ireland Conny Ovesen and the President of Youghal Rotary Club Dr. Kieran O’Connor. Simply go to and click on the register for conference link.
