Police said while on patrol in Lurgan’s Portadown Road underpass they spotted a large group of youths who had alcohol.

Lurgan Neighbourhood Policing Team warned them that it was illegal to drink alcohol while underage and a number of parents were called to collect children.

“The officers engaged with the young people, making them aware they were committing an offence by having and consuming alcohol whilst underage.

“A number of parents were also contacted and requested to collect children.

“They were also spoken to in relation to breaches of the Covid regulations with some having travelled from as far as Belfast.

“A large crowd also travelled by train from Portadown. Details were taken and this will be followed up in the coming days.

“Parents, do you know where your sons and daughters are when they go out with their friends? Will you have a police officer knocking on your door next time, bringing your son or daughter home in a sorry state?

“Neighbourhood officers will continue to patrol late into the night. Please assist by sharing this post to other parents.”
