Latest cattle prices from Markethill

An entry of 730 cattle at Markethill on Saturday, 7th May sold in a another very strong demand with several new customers at the ringside to secure stock.

HEIFERS

The 240 store heifers sold in an excellent demand with prices firmer on the week. Forward heifers to £226 for 508k at £1150 for a Killylea farmer followed by £204 for 538k at £1095. Main demand for good quality lots from £178 to £194 per 100 kilos. Top price £1215 for 700k from a Ballinderry farmer. Good quality middleweight heifers from £190 to £218 for 488k at £1065 from a Killeen Newry farmer. Lightweight heifers from £180 to £212 for 378k at £800 from a Keady farmer. Second quality heifers were in stronger demand from £170 to £180 per 100 kilos.
