Markethill Mart: Heavy lambs sell readily from £90 to £96.50

An entry of 850 sheep at Markethill on Wednesday, June 5th sold in a significantly stronger trade for spring lambs and cull ewes.

Light spring lambs sold steadily from 400p to 436p per kilo for 19.4 kilos at £84.50 each followed by 435p per kilo for 21.4 kilos at £93 each.

Several top quality pens sold from 415p to 430p per kilo.

Heavy lambs sold readily from £90 to £96.50 each with good quality pens from 380p to 398p per kilo for 24.1 kilos at £96 each.

An entry of 180 ewes sold in a much firmer demand.

Good quality ewes sold from £80 to £92 each with poorer ewes from £60 to £75 each.

In the breeding ring doubles sold to £222 each and singles sold from £130 to £195 each.
