Farmers being offered ‘Golden ticket’ opportunity to take on landmark 362-acre farming tenancy
Farmers are now being given a ‘Golden ticket’ opportunity to take on landmark 362-acre farming tenancy.
Now farmers are being given an opportunity of a lifetime to rent one of south Scotland’s most substantial and well-equipped mixed livestock farms.
Castlemilk & Corrie Estates is looking for tenants at its Cowdens Farm site, near Lockerbie, which extends to approximately 362.10 acres (146.54 hectares) of productive land. It is the first farm in over 15 years the estate has brought to the open lettings market.

In addition to securing control of a major, ring-fenced farming unit on either a five-year Short Limited Duration Tenancy or 10-year Modern Limited Duration Tenancy, the tenants will benefit from generous family accommodation in the extensively renovated and refurbished four-bedroom farmhouse.
The farm has been owned by Castlemik for more than 200 years, and Estate Director Jamie Buchanan-Jardine is excited to bring this opportunity to the market.
He said: “There hasn’t been an open market Limited Duration Tenancy in this area since 2019 and opportunities like this don’t come around very often.
"We believe that farming tenancies are the way forward for Scottish agriculture and we’re keen to open up the industry to those who may not usually have an opportunity to farm land of this magnitude.

“The level of investment we have poured into the property and the level of infrastructure available means we have set the tenants up for success, and this could be a golden ticket for somebody who has the ability but not the means to run a successful farming enterprise.
“This level of support highlights the amount of pride we have in the quality of our product, and we are looking forward to working with the new tenants.”
Through the support of land agency C&D Rural, Castlemilk & Corrie Estates is seeking a tenant with vision and drive, with applications welcomed from a broad range of farming backgrounds.
The property has undergone extensive renovation and investment. It includes a newly refurbished traditional four‑bedroom farmhouse and a comprehensive range of modern and traditional agricultural buildings supporting livestock production, including a large bedded cattle shed, general‑purpose buildings, silage pit and upgraded handling and storage facilities.
The land is divided into 25 well‑fenced field parcels, all supplied with reliable water, and has benefited from careful long‑term management. Recent works include over 10 kilometres of new fencing, professional drain stone dyke restoration and the planting of shelter and biodiversity trees across the holding.
