The council’s Policy and Governance Committee has been told that prior to going live, a final phase of testing will be completed.
A report was presented to the committee when it met remotely on Tuesday evening.

Hide AdThe online search facility will have a photograph of the memorial if one is available.


Users will be able to view other burials in the same plot.
When the search facility is launched, access will be available via the council’s website and a link through the Residents’ App.
Committee member Ulster Unionist Councillor Robert Foster, a Macedon representative, said that he welcomed this development.
“Quite a few people have asked me about how they can look into family history. It is a really good asset for the council to have. This will make it much handier.”

Hide AdMeanwhile, the last burial plot at Carnomoney Cemetery in Newtownabbey was allocated last May. Residents will be referred to a cemetery in either Ballyclare, Rashee, Crumlin, Sixmile or Antrim.
Carnmoney will continue to be available for burials in graves already allocated.
