An amber heat health warning was issued on Thursday (6 August), urging people to drink plenty of fluids and avoid excessive quantities of alcohol so as to stay safe in temperatures which could rise as high as 38C in some areas. Parts of east and south-east England are expected to have the warmest weather, with these 10 cities all forecast to reach temperatures above 31C today.
