How often have you found yourself screaming at the TV because you know an answer to a question on a game show? Well, now might be your chance to show off your knowledge, alongside a fellow quizzer.

Pointless is looking for pairs of “fun, lively people” who reckon they can take on the Pointless Challenge.

If you think you and someone in your life would make a great team, this is how you can apply.

How to apply

To begin your application, you’ll need to head to the Pointless applications website, and fill out the online form.

You’ll begin by filling out your personal information, such as your name, age, address and postcode.

Next, you’ll be asked to give a short description of your occupation, a short summary of your previous employment, and also outline any qualifications you have.

In the next stage of your application, you’ll be asked to write about why you want to appear on Pointless, and also to write about yourself.

You’ll also be asked about your hobbies and interests, and to list, in a general knowledge scenario, your three strongest and three weakest subjects.

Additionally, you’ll also be asked to write about any speciality subjects you might know a lot about, whether you have a competitive streak, and how you met the partner that you’re applying with.

In the final stage of the application process, you’ll need to input your fellow applicant’s details, such as their name, age, email address and phone number.

Lastly, you’ll need to upload a photograph of yourself and your partner.

The closing date for applications is on 8 February 2021.

Terms and conditions

As with all of these kinds of applications, there are a number of terms and conditions that you should be aware of prior to applying.

Some of the important information you should know:

  • You must be 18 or over to apply
  • You must be a legal resident of the UK at the date of your application
  • You cannot apply if you are employed, or have previously been employed, by Endemol Shine UK or by BBC
  • If you are shortlisted for the programme, the producer may conduct background checks

The production is aiming to start filming in Autumn/Winter, and will follow UK government and Public Health England Covid-19 guidelines.

You will be required to travel to the studio in Elstree, and potentially stay in a hotel overnight.

In light of current social distancing regulations, the programme encourages applicants to apply with someone who are in the same household or support bubble.

The casting call states: “If you and your fellow applicant are not in the same household or in a support bubble together, then you may still apply, but please do bear in mind that under current social distancing rules, you may not be able to take part in the show at this present time.”
