The key aspect clubs had to focus on when applying for the grant was ‘innovation’ and how they were hoping to make a positive impact post-Covid 19 within their Club and rural community.

Following a tough assessment , the YFCU are delighted to announce that the following Clubs have been successful in receiving a Covid-19 Innovation Grant.

Emily Fair, Power NI said: “These past few months have been difficult and it’s amazing to see the innovative ways these clubs are helping.”

Glarryford YFC: “One of the biggest challenges for our rural community during lockdown has been social isolation. We would like to celebrate our community by hosting a free breakfast/ coffee morning for everyone. Everything would be sourced from local producers to support the farm shops etc in our area.”

Newtownhamilton YFC: “This funding would help our members participate in mental health first aid, promote social inclusion by reconnecting and providing support, reduce isolation by encouraging young people to participate, and giving a sense of accountability and achievement through vegetable planting throughout the winter.”

Kilraughts YFC: “Kilraughts are wanting to expand our community circle by incorporating different activities such as a mixed sports evenings with a local GAA club to learn new skills, whilst also teaching and educating them with a similar sport that many of our members play.

“Gaining strong relationships like this could help us build our club.”
