YFCU president launches 2026 Christmas Food Bank Appeal to support local communities
The president of the Young Farmers’ Clubs of Ulster (YFCU), Kristina Fleming, has launched her 2026 Christmas Appeal, encouraging members across Northern Ireland to support local food banks and community food projects in a bid to help families facing difficult times this winter.
The YFCU Christmas Food Bank Appeal will see clubs come together to make a difference within their own communities, collecting essential food items in the lead-up to Christmas before delivering donations on Saturday 12th December 2026 as part of a coordinated YFCU day of giving.
Rather than organising a central collection point, YFCU are encouraging each club to identify and support a food bank or community food project within its local area.
This approach aims to ensure that donations remain within the communities where members live and volunteer, helping those who may be struggling during what can be a challenging time of year.

Clubs are being asked to select a local food bank, organise food collections during club meetings in the run-up to Christmas and encourage members and their families to get involved. All donations will then be delivered on Saturday 12th December 2026.
Speaking about the launch of her Christmas Appeal, Kristina said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to make a real difference in their communities. Through the YFCU Christmas Food Bank Drive, we are coming together to support local food banks and families across Northern Ireland who may be struggling this winter.
“Every tin, packet and donation represents more than food. It represents kindness, hope and the belief that no one should face Christmas alone.
“As a youth organisation, we want to build stronger communities where everyone feels supported and valued.
“This Christmas, we invite members, families and local communities to join us in giving what they can.
“Together, we can fill shelves, brighten lives and help create a stronger future for those who need it most.”
The appeal reflects YFCU’s commitment to community involvement, and the positive contribution young people make across Northern Ireland.
Through the collective efforts of clubs, members and their wider communities, the organisation hopes to provide meaningful support to local families, ensuring everyone feels supported this festive period.
