Meet the Oxford Union Debate speakers lineup

After months of planning, OFC 2027 have begun to share the speakers who will join them in Oxford this January.

Bringing a conference together means thinking carefully about the experience each person brings, and how their contribution sits within the wider discussion we want to encourage.

Sheena Horner, OFC chair, said: “For me, our theme Harmony is about making stronger connections across food and farming, including between people who might not normally find themselves in the same room.

“Our speakers reflect that ambition, bringing practical farming experience together with scientific expertise and perspectives from beyond our industry. You can explore the line-up on our website, and we’ll be introducing speakers in the newsletter over the coming weeks.”

She added: “First up are our Oxford Union Debate participants, who will consider whether mindset is the biggest barrier to progress in farming. It is a motion I suspect will prompt plenty of discussion before we even reach the debating chamber, and I look forward to hearing what you make of it.

“Of course, some of the most valuable conversations at Oxford happen beyond the formal sessions. You never quite know who you will sit beside at dinner, or where a conversation over coffee might lead. That opportunity to spend time with people whose experience differs from our own is a large part of what makes the conference special.”

Tickets are on sale for 6-8 January 2027.
