Many thanks to Andrew Skillen and his dad, Andrew, for sending Farming Life across this fantastic old photograph from the 1930s or early 1940s. The names are from left to right: Dan O'Hare, Harry McEvoy, Joe McCarthy, Andrew Skillen and P J McEvoy. The oak tree in the background still stands to this day and in its original shape. Andrew writes: “Photograph from the 1930s or early 1940s. These men were working in a flax dam on the Corcreechy Road five miles north of Newry, approximately half a mile from the current Sheepbridge Inn. The names are from left to right: Dan O'Hare, Harry McEvoy, Joe McCarthy, Andrew Skillen and P J McEvoy. The oak tree in the background still stands to this day and in its original shape.” Andrew added: “This I send on behalf of my father Andrew Skillen, son of the Andrew in the photo. Yes that makes three Andrew Skillens in a row.”
