Know your herd, Grow your future - Fane Valley Stores your official tag supplier for the NI Bovine Genetics Project
The future of Northern Ireland’s beef and dairy sectors is being shaped by better information, better genetics and better decisions – unlock your herd’s genetic performance.
The NI Bovine Genetics Project launched on the 1st September 2026, giving farmers the opportunity to capture valuable genetic information from their cattle and use it to support more informed breeding and herd management decisions.
As an official tag supplier for the NI Bovine Genetics Project, Fane Valley Stores are proud to support farmers across Northern Ireland as the project gets underway. Genomic tags are now available to order for the first phase of the programme. Phase one involves DNA testing all your existing breeding animals in the herd. The second phase involves tagging all newborn calves born between 1st January 2027 to the 31st December 2027 with a DNA tissue sample tag set.
Genomic tagging combines livestock identification with valuable genomic information to help you understand the genetic potential within your herd. By building a clearer picture of each animal, you can make more informed breeding and management decisions, with greater confidence in the future direction of your herd.

Fane Valley Stores are there to help support you take the next step in herd improvement with genomic testing; TEST TODAY. BREED SMARTER TOMORROW.
