Lidl Northern Ireland today announced a brand-new partnership with Mash Direct Belfast City Marathon as its official ‘Fresh Fruit Supplier’. Lidl Northern Ireland will deliver more than 2 tonnes of quality fruit to power runners to the finish line on race day on Sunday 1 May. As ‘Official ‘Fresh Fruit Supplier’ to the event, Lidl Northern Ireland will be stationed at the start and finish line and relay changeover points throughout the course offering fresh bananas for a much-needed energy boost. Lidl Northern Ireland has officially opened its brand-new anchor store at High Street Mall in Portadown. The new store opening injects an investment of £6 million directly into the local area, creating 20 permanent retail jobs. A further 100 jobs were also supported during the planning and construction phases. Lidl Northern Ireland & McCulla Launch Fully Green Transport Fleet: Lidl Northern Ireland has become the first retailer in the UK and Ireland to launch a fully green transport fleet powered by waste-to-energy generation, in partnership with leading local logistics company McCulla Transport. The new fleet of eight bio-methane powered trucks marks a major step forward in Northern Irelandâ€TMs goal to reduce carbon emissions and will reduce the retailerâ€TMs carbon emissions of these vehicles by up to 93%. Top Northern Ireland horticulturalist Greenisland Flowers is blooming today after securing a new supply deal with Lidl Northern Ireland to ship more than four million stems of freshly cut tulips, lilies and scented stocks to its 202 stores in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Since establishing in 2002, producing just 250,000 stems, the company has grown its operations to this year supply more than four million stems to the retailer. By the end of 2021, Lidl Northern Ireland will have invested more than £7.2 million with Greenisland Flowers keeping its customers fragrantly supplied right throughout the year and supporting the creation of 14 new local jobs.
